If you don't like it, then you didn't read your own article, which stated that the AURC gold claims would not be protected from foreign investment.

All this means is that a buyout by a foreign mining company would move from "highly unlikely" to "not gonna happen".

Holding ownership and getting good JV's is what I'm looking for anyway. This would only be bad news for those who bought hoping that Barrick would sweep in and buy everything. If that's why you bought, you bought for the wrong reasons.

I think these kinds of actions by Russia are only the beginning of a what will be a huge movement against open world trading (and the WTO). Countries are starting to fear that large foreign multinationals will sweep in and take over all of their industries, or take manufacturing and other blue collar jobs away to cheap labor countries. I think we're going to see a lot of defensive manouvers like this in the near future as countries look to protect jobs at home and hold on to their natural assets.
