Oh, is that all? You mean, they don't want to release a 175W 3GHz DC part? Really? Just the small issue of dropping that down 50W or so is all?

Do let us all know when the AMD Tri-cores start shipping, mas.

BTW, with the Fishkill SOI process badly broken from the looks of Cell, what do you think this implies for AMD's 65nm performance, timing, and ramp?

3GHz dual core by the end of the year? Sure, why wouldn't they?

The question is, what would it prove? A 2.66GHz Conroe E6700 would still beat it in most benchmarks, let alone the 3.2GHz X6900 that should be available by that time. IMO, FX chips will be largely irrelevant for AMD, since:

A) The volumes are insignificant, and
B) The fastest FX will fall short of the fastest Conroe, meaning that Intel will continue to hold mindshare for having the tastiest triple cheeseburger.
