Based on this, I believe the statement about their first product being natural dragline silk was more of a goal rather than an actuality at the time that article was written.

Difficult to agree with the logic, as info was on their Linked In page at the time.

Logic dictates a name change was necessary to escape the past "objectives" that were not met within satisfactory parameters.
