kpf, so we have new Opteron compilers and HP Itanium results to anticipate. Good horse race here! How often does SPEC update their web site, anyhow?

One thing is for certain: AMD never promised an Itanium comptetitor, but here we are. Opteron is positioned as the Xeon-killer, and it does show such promise. Intel has been promising that Itanium would be a generation ahead of anything else, but it isn't. Although it has impressive FP scores, overall it is not smoking the competition.

If it weren't for those lousy finances, AMD would own the computing world right now!
