I don't need to. I've been in the cable construction business since 1979! Most of the new build for cable was in the late 80s and 90s.
Ever since then MSOs have been band aiding their outside plant to keep it going.

I have been on a Time Warner job in a major city and they are overwhelmed because the cable is falling apart. Just this year alone they have over 2000 locations to replace bad cable!

Last week Comcast started putting fiber to the home in Fresno, Ca! Cox cable started replacing cable with fiber in Pheonix.
There is fiber to the home in Sante Fe & Taos NM.

Then there is GOOGLE! They are all over the USA and scaring the crap out of the cable companies! At home we have Verizon Fios for 2 years now and not one outage!

The paradigm is shifting from coax to fiber! With fiber there are no power supplies, amps, and splitters to deal with. There goes 50% of their maintenance problems.

4cable has a good product but they are 15years too late. GLTU
