If it was 2005 you might be right but companies do not pay large amounts to patent trolls like PTSC. They litigate all the way to the end. Also, patent reform legislation currently being considered could entirely eliminate patent trolls like PTSC from being able to bring infringement law suite. Why would any company settle with PTSC? Even if they lost to PTSC the settlement amounts would be very small like in the HTC case.
