roni/all - regarding board admin
when tfx and I first discussed reconstituting an new AAPL community here at iHub, we worked though variety of approaches. Philosophically, we prefer to be laissez faire to the greatest extent possible. Neither of us has much interest in becoming post zappers.
Instead, we hoped that by inviting constructive, mature posters here that the community itself could band together to encourage an atmosphere where self-indulgence takes a back seat to respecting the integrity of the forum and the wishes of the larger group.
In other words, we're hoping for self-censorship rather than Admin censorship. Obviously, this is a public and open board and all who wish to join in are welcome and encouraged to do so. If, however, individuals who have been openly contemptuous of the greater good in other fora are asked to join by you or other posters, it should be with the understanding that what might have been the norm elsewhere isn't the norm here. And that just because one CAN say or act in ways that tickle one's own perverse pleasure zone, does not mean one SHOULD indulge if it's clearly not welcomed by the broader community.
The "I can say whatever I want and if you don't like it you can lump it" attitude is most assuredly unwelcome here. And the one thing you can count on tfx and I doing is, with the support of all here, defending the integrity of the board should anyone come here in that spirit.
Having said all that, iHub has a very clear set of guidelines for the sorts of posts that are subject to removal.
