The CEO had a call with some close investors about the shorting and the down pressure on the stock. He would not discuss non public information as he did not know who was on the call without an NDA with the Company, but from the rhetoric I got is something big is in the works.
My guess it is financing or an acquisition announcement, or could be both. Just guessing from what was not said, but I did hear end of month for all that it is worth.
