Re: What do earnings warnings have to do with the "quiet period"?
In the past, Intel has always maintained a strict adherence to their quiet period, and as well, they have always warned before missing an earnings estimate by more than a couple of cents. Taken together, one would expect Intel to announce a miss *before* their quiet period starts. Given that B&B numbers for the last month in the quarter should be nearly written in stone by now, it's reasonable to assume they would have warned, had they a sense that they would miss estimates.
