Intersting article. Lots of speculation on the technology and uses and the comments ae interesting too.

I don't think there is a market on the desktop even for gaming except perhaps in having even faster SSDs. Ramdisc can do anything else needed better. They identified two other major areas where it could be very useful: database servers and IoT. As well as the obvious advantages for databases I think it could save a lot of bother waiting for a disk or using battery backup for secure commit. I think they missed the very big potential use in smartphones and mobiles for use as a fast SSD and RAM backup reducing the pressure on DRAM and saving power by allowing them to sleep deeper and yet wake up fast.
