matthew, please read Joe Grandville's book to get a better understanding as to how OBV works. It is used to determine volume accumulation and distribution field trends of a stock. During January and early February MRIB was definitely in a falling field trend. That ended on February 14th. Since then MRIB has had approximately 50,000,000 shares positive accumulation. Any cumulative OBV numbers before that date are irrelevant at this time because a new rising field trend has been established. MRIB cumulative OBV has been zig zaging higher since February 14th. That is evidence that the OBV field trend has changed meaning investor sentiment has changed as well. Who has been accumulating? We don't know. Hopefully insiders that know something good is coming for the company and its shareholders. The dumping of convertibles is what caused the falling stock price and subsequent falling OBV field trend through much of 2014 and January of 2015.
I hope this gives you a little better understanding of OBV but please read the book.
