You meet the strangest people at a baseball game.
I was sitting next to a US Air Force vet last night at my son's baseball game. The guy was in his early 80s. His grandson plays on my son's team and the team was winning handily and we were talking about the news of the day and insurance companies etc.
He asked if I had been following the stuff in TX about the military taking over and he started laughing his ass off. I said yeah I've read about it. He said can you believe those nuts down there thinking Obama is going to take over their state?
I said to him don't tell me you're a democrat? He said yup been one all my life. I said congrats we're almost extinct here in NC.
The guy was sharp as a tack. He had high praise for Obama and how he had managed to get us out of Iraq, save GM and Chrysler and bring the stock markets back. (The latter obviously pleasing him no end since he is retired and living off his dividends from insurance companies etc.)
It was a really enjoyable evening talking to the gentleman and just how sharp he was on so many topics. If you had looked at him wearing his Air Force vet hat and Harley Davidson t-shirt you would have never expected he would actually support the POTUS much less be a registered Democrat.
His son was sitting with us and said don't listen to him my dad is senile. The old guy fired back and said really, I'll make sure to leave you out of the will and give the money to my grandson. ;-)
