My .02,
>>>After all, THEY CHOSE TO USE THEIR REAL NAME IN THE FIRST PLACE!
>>To me, that adds a lot more credibility to them, than someone posting BEHIND an alias.
>>Nothing to hide, right?
Also, while I might use my real name and provide a link that pretty much reveals how to contact me (toll free no less!), that is significantly different from having someone take that information and post it on several message boards along with libelous comments!
Again, although a great deal of so called *private* information is actually public record there are some difficulties one can run into by publishing that information on message boards.
If the message that contains the personal information also contains comments like "he is a scammer, felon, etc." or if messages immediately preceding or following the PI message contain inflammatory statements...pray that nothing bad befalls your target...you may be open to serious criminal as well as civil penalties. Remember Jenny Jones?
I never scream about suing most of the folks I find howling about "this CEO is a (fill in the blank)" and most CEO's ignore them as well. Why? You'd be surprised how many live in a 1969 Fleetwood double-wide 37.5 miles northeast of Baton Rouge, LA or the equivalent. OR they are "kept women" living off their Sugar Daddy's money! Those are almost worth chasing sometimes.
