That's interesting. I wonder how they'll vote? Here's a different take on Iran.

Congratulations President Obama on reaching a deal with Iran

There is still six hours or so to go before the deal is officially announced, but the draft has been finalized. Presuming that no veto proof majority votes against it in the us senate then war will have been averted with Iran.

I doubt that any other potential contender for the American presidency would have had the fortitude and courage to spend the political capital required for a deal such as this. Certainly not a republican and probably not Clinton or Edwards either.

Iran has a semi meaningful democratic process, it has the largest Jewish minority in the middle east outside of Israel, it allows people to practice their religion, allows women to drive and both Sunni and Shiite to practice freely. it allows transsexual people to legally reassign their gender, and has made cannabis de facto legal. It is a deeply flawed state but nevertheless better than most in the region and certainly not deserving of the grotesque characterization afforded to it by the American media.

Hopefully given the common American interests in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere this can be the start of a new relationship between the parties.
