I was going to ask the same thing; which part? I suspect the answer is both.

The occasional big score, but the losing on all the rest more than kills any overall profit.

And being part of a scam. That's the part I never understood, how anyone could justify that. I understand gambling, but I don't understand being complicit with fraud. Oh well, life is full of mysteries.
