#193331 RE: bladerunner1717 #193329

One of the most famous wannabees hard sciences is economics and indeed from what I have read, economic research has become so mathematical so most of it has become unmoored from reality. I am not going into whether 'saltwater' or 'freshwater' economics is the worst.

What is bothering me is the issue and unsatisfactory state of medical research as exposed by Ben Goldacre. Bad results are left unpublished. Marginal results are being data mined and spinned and then published.

I can understand the reason(s) why but still it leaves me depressed about the state of the affair. Many/most drug trials failed and the data (in details) are never published although it can be very useful for the future. Monetary factors and competition no doubt are involved here but society at large nevertheless suffer.
Scientific knowledge advances as much through failure learning as successes.
