Thankfully Republican Gov. Haley of South Carolina stood strongly and led the move for the confederate flag to be removed from the statehouse

Ah yes, but ANYTHING to keep the ammosexuals happy!

Nikki Haley not ‘interested’ in fixing gun waiting periods after Dylann Roof’s failed background check

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) said on Sunday that she did not support increasing waiting periods to allow federal officials ample time to conduct background checks even though flaws in the current law allowed Charleston shooter Dylann Roof to purchase a gun.

The FBI said on Friday that Roof had not been eligible to purchase the gun used to kill nine people at a church in Charleston because he had admitted to drug possession. But because the FBI was not able to verify Roof’s record with local law enforcement agencies within a three day period, the gun shop used it’s legal discretion to sell the weapon to the shooter.

How many years has Gov Haley been gov of SC and she's just now getting around to removing that rag from gov property?...sounds like she probably sees an opportunity to get on the Repub ticket in 2016.

Just to set the record straight it was a personal decision by Haley that was long over due for SC.

“It came down to one simple thing,” Ms. Haley said in a phone interview Tuesday. “I couldn’t look my son or daughter in the face and justify that flag flying anymore.”

And for a history lesson for you, LBJ warned he would lose the south for a generation over his stance on civil rights. Those would be southern democrats.

Times do change and sometimes the people making the changes surprises everyone in our partisan world we live in.

The final vote came after the flag’s opponents defeated a series of amendments intended to derail the proposal. At one point on Wednesday night, Representative Jenny Anderson Horne, a Republican, tearfully pleaded with her colleagues to advance the measure without amendment.

“The people of Charleston deserve swift and immediate removal of that flag from these grounds,” Ms. Horne said. “I cannot believe that we do not have the heart in this body to do something meaningful.”
