You're right cases can take years. But, this seems to be a simple contract law case, not copyright. Regardless, I can see Asherson stalling the case. While "The Guardian Project" would have been valued when NBC Universal bought in, I doubt it would be worth much unless it is fully developed.
I wouldn't mind seeing it resurrected, especially as a non-NHL project. I still think NBC Universal could use some superhero IP.
