I doubt they did, but who knows? In a review of Digital Journal , it was said that "Digital Journal throws your application before a ‘panel’ of underachievers to see if you’d be a great fit to spin stories." Not to suggest the SMCE PR was a spin but as you said, it appeared to be for the purpose of attracting investors.
