Preferred share of legitimate companies are not danger to their shareholders and yes they would be convertible at the same value they were exchanged for in case of a buyout or takeover of the company.
If this is a legitimate company ur concerns over preferred shares is moot...if it's a scam and they did this then there is concern....I'm in the legitimate camp.
