Stickied
The trip was a TRIP!
I was privileged to meet, hang out with over two dozen of the countries greatest young scholars and nearly two dozen accomplished astronauts. From Apollo to the STS missions I have heard stories that I am certain few have.
The scholars were equally impressive. Their researched spanned far and wide. All presented their works in progress. The passion for them to succeed and answer the unknown is incredible.
I was profoundly humbled.
Beyond that, it was a time to reflect. Sensory overload was the theme during the visit.
Most of our greatest accomplishments are in our past, with abundant opportunity for new ones in the future.
Whilst listening to all of these people speaking of their own accomplishments, I thought of my own. From my long list(still adding)
The greatest of all is.
My Children
My observation of the scholars proved that good parenting pays off.
Spending that extra 15 minutes with your kid reaps benefits.
Stoke the curiosity in the youth. Don't speak to them like babies.. I always spoke to my kids as humans ... they are simply a bit shorter... temporarily. :-)
Teach them not everybody will win ...But they can.
Hard work ... perseverance. When we are young.. we have the world by the balls. KEY to let them know that.
Ethics
Respect
and a Smile.
I am far out of the working world. My life has gone precisely where I wanted it to. Many obstacles along the way attributed to the succesful journey. I have accomplished much, and have more to yet.
I came home not only rejuvenated but motivated. My list is long and time is short :-)
