These are better pictures of the Spiber exhibit than I have seen before.

The close up views of the reeled fiber and of the dress show that the fiber is very knobby and rough, not at all similar to natural spider silk which is very fine and smooth.
Also the dress seems to be made of an extremely coarse woven and heavy fabric, like a heavy canvas Gi.
