1960's "Cathy’s Clown (Everly Brothers) begins a five week run at #1 in the U.S. 1960

Marianne Faithful records her hit debut "As Tears Go By." The song is written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards (Rolling Stones) but the real story is who’s on the record. Jimmy Page plays guitar and John Paul Jones is on bass. That would be one-half of the future Led Zeppelin. How could it fail? It didn’t. 1964

Chris Ballew of the Presidents Of The United States Of America (“The Presidents” for short) is born in Seattle, WA. 1965

Produced by Phil Spector (as his crowing achievement), Ike & Tina Turner’s epic “River Deep Mountain High” is released. The song stiffs in the U.S. (though it enters the Top 5 in England) causing Spector to briefly retire from the music business. 1966

Mick Jagger and then-girlfriend Marianne Faithful (see above) get arrested at Mick’s London home on possession of marijuana charges. 1969
1970's The James Gang release “Walk Away.” 1971

Bruce Springsteen and former manager Mike Appel settle. Their legal wrangling kept Springsteen out of the studio for nearly a year. Never sign a management contract on the hood of a car or without your lawyer present. “Darkness On The Edge Of Town” is Springsteen’s next effort. 1977

1980's Having already taken a bath on the original US Festival, Steven Wozniak decides to toss some more money down the hole. Computer nerds will do anything to look cool. The second US Festival begins in San Bernadino, CA. It’s The Clash’s last show with guitarist Mick Jones. Also, performing during the three day event are the Cars, Stray Cats, Wall Of Voodoo, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crue and Van Halen, who get $1 million for their time and effort. The festival doesn’t come close to breaking even. Wonder why? 1983

Bob Seger’s “Like A Rock” album, featuring the title track and “American Storm,” is certified platinum. 1986
2000's The Jim Jarmusch-directed indie flick "Coffee and Cigarettes" opens with Meg and Jack White (White Stripes). 2004

System Of A Down perform at Madrid's Festimad. 60 mile an hour winds blow the roof off the outdoor stage. Promoters want to cancel but S.O.A.D. waits out the storm and hits the stage at 3:45 am playing a full set for the 30,000 in attendance. 2005

Staind perform at the 90th running of the Indy 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (makes sense). They play two songs at "Yard of Bricks" near the track's start-finish line. One song is part ABC's pre-race telecast and the other is just for racing fans attending the event. 2006

Beck and the members of his band are accompanied on stage by marionette puppets of themselves during their headlining performance at the Sasquatch! Festival in George (about 125 miles east of Seattle), WA. 2006

Iron Maiden's “The Number Of The Beast” is named the greatest album in British music made during Queen Elizabeth II's 60-year reign, according to retailer HMV’s online survey of30,000 music fans. John Fogerty’s duets album, “Wrote A Song For Everyone,” rolls out.
