Not a specific answer because I don't know, but for your DD use Sandia, Optomec and LENS, just to point you in a direction for more info, general. I did post something a long time ago about something Sigma and Sandia, a brochure of Sandias that maybe showed how they influenced local business development.

I was disappointed when I saw these projects go to DDD, and when I saw that the USAF research working with someone else because Sigma had a thing with them once too.

3-D printing was developed at the same time at Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory, but not jointly. The two labs, however, jointly share in some of the initial patents on the technology, and each spun off a company. Los Alamos spun off Sigma Labs Inc., which focuses on software, and Sandia spun off Optomec, which builds hardware.

JJ is right about buzz words. Things like 'closed loop' are thrown around willy nilly in media articles. Mark even said in the last CC that the whole talk about closed loop was based on how one defines it. Many different processes can be called closed loop to varying defintiions

Regarding DDD, even the CEO stated recently in his Q1 conference that

experienced several challenging metal applications that centered around the manufacturing of unique geometries with specialty materials. We’ve isolated these cases. We are working with the indentified customers on appropriate corrective measures
