FDA doesn't approve homeopathic medicines in general because it's an alternative medicine system.

What I mean is that the FDA has a new product created by Hensley registered within their database. So if Hensley is as dangerous and a scammer as you make it sound, the FDA is risking their reputation by knowingly coordinating with Hensley and allowing him to distribute Emesyl. The FDA doesn't approve any homeopathic products which makes it my fault for saying they "approved" it.

As for Hensley's Vira 38, the FDA only took action because he didn't register with them (yes it's against the law, but that doesn't mean the Vira 38 didn't work)

Taiwan successfully used VIRA 38, which is produced by PRB Pharmaceuticals and Lee's Pharmaceuticals, to suppress a SARS outbreak in 2003. Recent studies show the antiviral agent's ability to inhibit a variety of pathogens, including the H5N1 bird flu virus.

International health officials hope the successful use of VIRA 38 will lead to a complete eradication of the virus in Southeast Asia. However officials fear the virus, which is already resistant to amantadine, may also become resistant to VIRA 38.
