iChat and AIM communities are not so much small as they are sophmoric.
I don't have much in the way of junior high things to chat about. ICQ is the most widely used and popular in some fairly obscure countries. Since it is only text chat & SMS messaging I use it in conjunction with ISPQ. The others no longer support Mac or only support OS 9. Others being ICUII, iVisit or CuSeeMe. Seriously get a cam and check out ISPQ, besides the usual crew of exhibitionists, there are some very interesting folks there.
My current favorite guy is a Muslim engineer for Bechtel in Egypt who refused to go to Iraq for Bechtels' rebuilding project. He finds comfort n the fact that all Americans are not long tall Texans
