Yes I am big on TA. Especially the fibs. I've never found an "indicator" that reveals a structure to this madness. I also find the fibs fascinating, not just from a technical stand point, but from a mathematical and architectural approach as well. Math is an amazing tool. And you are correct news, whether good or bad, has the ability to influence a chart. TA can only help you make educated guesses. I still for the life of me can't figure out if this is a true P&D. I've seen so many and have gotten in and out many a times. This one though, it's holding to .01 and is continuing to build. Let's just hope there is more good news soon, otherwise people will begin to get restless and start to sell. People like to make money, not watch it sit there.
