Huh? Care to explain? That wouldn't be naked shorting, it would simply be having a short term short position.
MMs do it in order to make a market in penny stocks. Retail investors very occasionally, but hardly ever due to the margin cost and limited upside vs. unlimited downside.
And it wouldn't result in a cumulative "short" of 80 million or even eight shares.
true enough...made up shares are made up shares...it's like something times nothing is still nothing... although.. it would be difficult to impress upon some that believe the brainstorm of a thesis was supported by... others as having some sort of validity....which is about as hilarious as it comes.
