Why? Granted, it isn't quite the same issue, but DDRII memory is supposed to be driveable by a DDR memory controller. It is just a state machine and interface drivers. Handling the voltages isn't a big deal, nor are the differences in the state machine. So there is no a priori reason that wouldn't work.
