My mother and father raised a big, Irish Catholic family in Boston. That doesn't boil things down much- that describes most of Boston in that day.
Devout, my mother asked a priest who knew her and the family if she would get to heaven. Possibly with me and the rest of the brood in mind, he replied, "(Mother of MG), you've already had your hell on earth, you're going straight to heaven!"
This gave great consolation to my mother, and I guess I'm glad to have played an unwitting part.
