Yea, if you don't post monthly they drop you. That's why I have to put something nonsensical up at least once a month. However, on a board I once moderated the chief moderator died several years ago. He was a real nice fella and I enjoyed conversing with him. They have still not removed him from his moderator post. He obviously hasn't posted since his death. I won't tell them, I just chuckle when they remind me of the policy.
