Levon Helm, drummer and singer for The Band, dies after a long battle with cancer in Woodstock, NY. Helm was the only American in the otherwise Canadian group that became Bob Dylan’s backup band before becoming The Band. Helm was 71. 2012

Ain't In It For My Health, a documentary about Levon Helm debuts in New York City on the first anniversary of the drummer's passing. Directed by Jacob Hatley, the film combines archival footage along with sequences shot during the last few years of Helm's life. 2013
