The Beatles release “Ticket To Ride.” The song appears in the group’s second film, “Help!” 1965

Taking their 'ticket to ride', John Lennon and George Harrison leave the Maharishi’s digs in India. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have already bailed. This pretty much ends The Beatles quest for the Maharishi’s brand of spiritual enlightenment. 1968

A cover of Otis Redding’s classic, "Try A Little Tenderness," ("Oooo, she may be weary," not "wooly" like they sang in Bull Durham) is Three Dog Night’s first charting single. Gets all the way to #29. 1969

"XXX: State Of The Union" soundtrack is unleashed with KoRn and Rapper Xzibit’s cover of Public Enemy's classic "Fight The Power." The soundtrack also features a mash-up with Three Days Grace and Atlanta Rapper Bone Crusher. The film is in theaters ten days later. 2005

Universally Speaking. Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea denounces President George W. Bush in an online message. "Bush should definitely be impeached," writes Flea. "He is a liar and his lies have [brought] misery to millions of people." As a result, the Peppers fall from the short-list of White House entertainment options. 2006

A Florida judge throws out an invasion-of-privacy suit brought against Scott Stapp and video distributor World Wide Red Light District by a woman who appeared in a ‘99 sex tape with the ex-Creed singer and Kid Rock. Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Gerald Hubbart rules that the woman cannot sue while remaining anonymous. She is given 20 days to re-file under her own name. 2006

In his own write… and draw. A school exercise book hand-illustrated by a 12-year-old John Lennon is among the Beatles-related memorabilia up for bid during a London auction. There’s also a logbook of an ‘80 trip to Bermuda and Lennon’s christening bracelet. 2006

The De-Faced Value art exhibit featuring images of Phil Collins reworked by various artists and musicians opens at a London gallery. Robert Plant, Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman and ex-Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman created portraits by painting over copies of the Collins albums "Face Value" and "No Jacket Required." Proceeds benefit the U.K. charity Children In Hunger. 2007

A tribute concert for Lynyrd Skynyrd bassist Ean Evans, who has cancer, takes place in Columbus, MS. Called the Mississippi Kid Festival, there are performances by Skynyrd guitarist Rickey Medlocke, as well as members of 38 Special, the Marshall Trucker Band and Molly Hatchet. Evans joined Skynyrd in ’01. 2009
2010's Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway To Heaven” is voted the UK's favorite Rock anthem in a poll conducted by digital station Absolute Classic Rock. At #2 is The Who's “Won't Get Fooled Again.” 2010

The soundtrack to Iron Man 2 is released. It features 15 AC/DC tracks including "Highway To Hell," "The Razor's Edge" and "Let There Be Rock." There’s also a special edition with a 50-minute DVD featuring AC/DC footage and movie clips. 2010

Man On A Train begins shooting in Orangeville, Ontario. The film features U2 drummer Larry Mullen who plays a bank robber. The movie is a remake of an ’02 French flick. 2010

Jon Bon Jovi opens Covenant House, a homeless shelter in Philadelphia. The development has 10 two-bedroom units which houses 20 formerly homeless people aged 18 to 21. 2011

The line-up has Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses), Joe Elliot (Def Leppard), Steve Stevens (Billy Idol), Gene Simmons (KISS), Matt Sorum (Velvet Revolver), Jason Newsted (Metallica), and Vince Neil (Mötley Crüe). The tour starts in Lima, Peru. 2012

Ted Nugent meets with the Secret Service over comments he made about President Barack Obama during the National Rifle Association convention the previous week. Nugent told the gun rights group he would be "dead or in jail" if Obama is re-elected. The Secret Service decides to let the matter drop determining that Nugent doesn’t pose a threat to Obama. 2012

Levon Helm, drummer and singer for The Band, dies after a long battle with cancer in Woodstock, NY. Helm was the only American in the otherwise Canadian group that became Bob Dylan’s backup band before becoming The Band. Helm was 71. 2012

Ain't In It For My Health, a documentary about Levon Helm debuts in New York City on the first anniversary of the drummer's passing. Directed by Jacob Hatley, the film combines archival footage along with sequences shot during the last few years of Helm's life. 2013

3 Doors Down bass player Robert Todd Harrell is arrested on vehicular homicide and drug charges after he being involved in a fatal crash in Nashville. As a result, 3 Doors Down cancel tour plans. Harrell was arrested the previous year for driving under the influence. 2013

Billie Joe Armstrong joins The Replacements on stage at the Coachella festival. "Dreams really do come true," says the Green Day frontman. 2014

Record Store Day sees the release of Bruce Springsteen’s four-song vinyl EP, “American Beauty” while R.E.M. presents “Unplugged: The Complete 1991 And 2001 Sessions.” The collection comes from a pair of MTV Unplugged appearances plus 11 tracks not originally included. Also, Green Day rolls out 18 demos, and a previously unreleased track, recorded during the “¡Uno!,” “¡Dos!” and “¡Tré!” sessions. 2014

Also as part of Record Store Day, Jack White nails the record for the world's fastest released single. The first 7" pressings of “Lazaretto” arrive in fans' hands 3 hours, 55 minutes and 21 seconds after being recorded live in Nashville.
