If I were a political advantage strategist for the democratic party, I'd say the first political party that can claim they were the driving force in getting MJ legalized and the its class of drug changed, that party will capture the youth vote and drive them to the polls in 2016 to ensure the democratic party wins the presidency.
Some of the republican candidates for president are already saying they're going to run on anti-MJ legalization platform. Obama can't wait till the 2016 fall election season to gain this advantage, he and the democrats must do it sooner than later and let the people get used to benefits and tax receipts that come from legalized MJ.
PS - the only reason legalizing MJ is gaining momentum is because its a new tax revenue. I predict prostitution will become the next vice to see a movement to get it legalized. This approval of past taboo's is all tax revenue driven as the politicians are running out of new taxes they can think up.
