hopefilled2014, no that is not it. I had someone asking that already. Here is why not.

Bleecker switched the ARM letter assignment A and B. She did that BEFORE even the first patient was enrolled and told nobody.

Now another company (Perceptive) when a patient is enrolled somewhere randomizes that patient into an arm A, B or C. The randomizing for that trial was 1:1:1.

If JB had done it for a family member, friend etc then she would have NO WAY of knowing where that person would end up. If AFTER her ARM switching that person would be assigned to the B-arm then he would have been in the placebo control group anyway.

The later partial (25%) dose switching also doesn't fit the family/friend theory because there is no need to switch 25% for that. Just one single patient sufficed (and we probably would have NEVER KNOWN).
