x dough, this all came about in a way unexpectedly. I think what it means is that Nwog is gonna get it sooner than later. It was up in the air. This turn of events gives Nwog a for sure chance of obtaining what it wanted. His public announcement of this made this clear. Nwog seems to be a very favored company of the regime. I tend to believe the company going public made it play into the Presidents lap. Putin wants to see this company succeed in light of past events. It must be a proud moment for Nwog and Putin. Putin wants this company to have a good showing it appears. Producing oil without a license is like mining there without a license. The present owner or owners have now lost the fields.

auction talk/confusion:

the date of the "historical"article was 2004. I was looking at the "history" at www.szng.ru and concluding from the mentions of Saratovneftgaz that it had been obtained by NWOG. The only full statement on that will be the releases we are all waiting for.

I was happy to find a "clue" as to NWOG's oil properties in Saratov and how they might have obtained them, and that the article seems to confirm that the properties are, in fact real and quite lucrative. Earlier post had Malyshev publicly berating TNK-BP for social irresponsibility and bidding for these properties. Financials will probably show if they are in fact a part of the division "North-West Oil Group - Saratov" or just an on-going bid, future properties that will be obtained and folded into the company.

Hope historical article was helpful, at any rate.

Lately my attention has turned to ITERA, a Florida-based company that used Gazprom pipelines and traded in oil and gas. Its president is IGOR Makarov (not Nord's Viatcheslav Makarov), but the similarity of activities in Russia and what seems to be a Florida connection in Nord's incorporation history makes the name coincidence interesting. Wild speculation. Anyone know if there is an ITERA connection in all this (third largest GAS distributor in Russia, very close to Gazprom).
