the fact that they answered your first e-mail at all is a huge surprise to me... their reply was a bit careful since they didn't know who you were or why you were asking...yet they did reply...amazingly..

and with the door opened, you chose in your second e-mail to reveal your bias and use a mocking tone which convinced them you were not worth a reply...and you didn't get one..

If they had not been respectful, they likely would not have seen a reply. This doesn't change the enlightening facts.
