I can tell you about recourse. In fact I've probably posted previously that one of the MANY problems with Chinese stocks is there's no effective recourse if things go wrong. You could go to a Chinese court and, at great cost, PERHAPS get some judgment but I'm not aware of any case where an American investor has levied on assets in China to satisfy his judgment.

Never invest when you have no effective legal recourse. So simple, eh!

Not my fault if my perfectly good advice was ignored or even scoffed at. That leaves only one thing: Never AGAIN buy stock in a Chinese firm. In my case, I don't invest in ANY foreign stocks. If I wanted to invest outside the US, I'd use a mutual fund for that purpose and let the fund worry about legal problems.
