I have only heard about Xen in passing from a coworker that
mainly is a Mac guy though he has Intel and AMD systems as
well.

I'm using VMWare Player on my X2 system and I don't see any
performance penalties as far as spin waits go. So maybe VMWare
takes advantage of Intel and AMD's Virtualization stuff. I did
read somewhere that using non-90 nm AMD processors didn't
perform as well and maybe there's something that was added to
the 90 nm processors that improve virt performance.

Right now I'm sold on VMWare's stuff as it is the best of both
worlds if you need to run multiple operating systems at the
same time.
