The funny thing in my opinion with or without patent reform the landscape has changed drastically over the last 5 years. Gone are the days of small innovators taking their IP and trying to go up against giant companies. The trend has shifted to individuals partnering with NPEs to do all the heavy lifting. This trend is only going to continue and favors the NPEs who have the highest monetization rates. You want to partner with companies like Marathon/iPnav who are highly successful. So companies like Marathon are going to benefit any way you slice patent reform going forward as individuals are looking to partner with the best companies out there. The more they make it difficult for small players to try to protect their IP the more they will flock to companies like Marathon to monetize.
