"Apple's 'respond and fix' time"

"Will be interesting to see Apple's "respond and fix" time, not to mention their replace time for customers with problems. I would expect them to do a pretty good job of it, if it is a widespread problem. Hard to see how it would get by product testing if it were a universal problem."

Yes it will be interesting. Given the fact that Apple stonewalled the MacBook Pro customers to the point there is going to be a mass-protest tomorrow out of frustration, the first step would be acknowledgment.

The notion that it's unlikely to be a widespread problem b/c it's the kind of thing that couldn't get by product testing without be detected doesn't stand up with Apple's history. Being as you'd think the exact same thing about the heat problems that have shown up in a bundle of Macs dating back to the fan issues in the old "Wind Tunnel" PowerMacs, the overheating issues in the PowerMacs - that eventually were "solved" by inserting a Delco car radiator in the box, the Rev A iMac G5s, and now the MacBook Pros.

This week's SMC firmware update is believed/suspected to be primarily about trying to fix the MBP heat problems -- although no one really knows since Apple refuses even to say what the heck the firmware update is for, LOL.

I'm beginning to think it was naive of me to have believed Rev. A might be somehow different this time. I guess I was just a'hopin' ...
