ArcamAB, AvioSpa, AvioPropSrL, Politecnico di Milano and Torino are all included on the first panel. It looks like a cooperative effort.

From Nov. 30, 2009: Arcam wins order for four EBM systems, signs long-term agreement with Avio

Arcam AB has received an order from Avio in Turin for four EBM systems for manufacturing of aero-engine titanium aluminide (TiAl) components. A long term agreement has also been signed between Arcam and Avio and Arcam has appointed Avio as Center of Excellence for its TiAl EBM technology.

The agreement is the result of a joint development project between Arcam and Avio with the goal to industrialize Arcam’s EBM technology for manufacturing components in titanium aluminide.

”We have now reached high confidence in the application of Arcam’s EBM technology to aero-engine parts and we are committed to move the process from research to production. We look forward to achieving business success through this long term partnership with Arcam”, says Giorgio Abrate, SVP Corporate Business Development at Avio.

"I wonder if it was Avio who customized the printer or whether Arcam is able and willing to do so. Increased insulation seems like a relatively easy fix. It's something that works both ways, allowing higher box temps with less energy input, but also slowing down the cooling process. Which generally produces a better. more stress relieved metal product. But it also adds to the production time."

The PowerPoint document properties indicate creation by Ulf Ackelid on 10/15/2010.

Since then:

The Q10 and the Q20 both have improved build platform insulation and "The Arcam A2X is designed to process titanium alloys as well as materials that require elevated process temperatures, e.g. titanium aluminide and Inconel, which makes it suited for both production and materials R&D."

"A new insulated heat shield was acquired from Arcam that helped in maintaining a higher build temperature." This is from calraminc.com - Digital Manufacturing of Gamma-TiAl by Electron Beam Melting (6/6/2011).

Arcam is willing and able to incorporate and share their product's advanced design.

If I remember right, Avio has added 2 Arcam systems per year in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and now have 10 systems, once the 2 are delivered in 2015.....
