I'm curious about the mechanics of this. I can see how the pump part happens, getting good news (real or imagined) and shorts selling into ever higher prices. What I DONT understand is the dump part. Who wants to sell at lower and lower prices? Just day-traders and speculators trying to lock in short-term gains? Maybe that's why the down day volume is lower than the up day volume.
