Long term shareholders have to be very disappointed with GE's performance over the last 10 years.

Performance should matter. What's the point of owning a stock if it doesn't. Mgmt changes are commonly made over poor performance and Immhelt and the BOD's simply haven't done the job.
What's kept the stock in this range is the buybacks...... which is nothing more than financial gimmickry. Assume they did no buy backs over the last 10 years, then the float and outstanding would be hundred of million more shares probably nr a billion shares; as a result EPS would be further reduced by those shares in the float. PE's would be higher and the stock, adjusting to the PE would be even lower.

Finally, if you like GE, buy the preferred. Performance wouldn't matter and you'd be getting a sizeable dividend.
