re VIX- if I get it correctly, VIX underperforming it shows the market thugs successfully pulled the rug inconspicuously enough so the option PUT buyers did not participate as they could've.

More puts would've created a stronger VIX

VIX reflects the balance between puts and calls

That's my thinking
