The reality is that if Scottrade had restricted you from buying you like many others would open up an account with one of the other major brokers who are more than happen to allow you to trade at free will. There is a reason why I no longer have a Scottrade account. You can pretty much figure out why I closed.

Why of course, but as I said, I believe his comment was tongue and cheek. I for one use Fidelity, and they allow me to make all the stupid decisions I like. ;-)
