This just goes to show that the model of synthetic spider silk production through "unnatural" processes is well supported in the scientific community.

Well supported financially....

I recall that both BASF and DuPont respectively, were WELL SUPPORTED FINANCIALLY, in their efforts to produce spider silk fiber.

Nexia raised 42 million when going public with their "unnatural" process....

Investors were so enamoured of the company's potential that its initial public offering in 2000 gleaned $42.4 million, the most ever raised in a Canadian IPO.

**SPOILER ALERT**:

The beginning of the PDF starts with:

Where other scientists have tried but failed to mass produce or mimic spider silk, a super strong and supple creation, Nexia Biotecnologies has succeeded.

Temporarily anyways.

You can't tell me why. That is a fact that speaks for itself. They are going to be into the building for approximately 100M+ minimum. That is on the cheap side. INSM bought an ecoli culture facility for 100M and sold it for 130M to MRK. It was in Boulder Colorado. This has all been discussed before. The problems aren't going to go away. Where do you see the silkworm approach being under pressure? The fact that Amsilk walked away from the fiber, doesn't have meaning to you? Spiber(jpn) processes are even more expensive.
