The QS-B-220's full name contains Quantum Sniffer. The sniffing, is done via analysis of the swab which is what collects the trace. It sticks to it.

But SWABS don't sniff, so the name is an odd one. And swabbs don't touch either, so the swabb action is referring to it moving thru a space and attracting molecules which then are affixed to the swabb material.

S-M both had hand held units on TSA's QPL, but their approval expired. Don't have any idea about the Swedish article. But if sure sounds like a QuantumSniffer- H-150. ( it used to be the H-100, just as the QS B-220 used to be the QS-BTS-200, with BTS meaning Bench Top System.

The desktop portion of the 220 is the old housing of the 200. Not 100% certain what the old collection method was on the BTS 200, but one thing Dr. McGann did do, which is certainly a huge factor in the 220s success, he created a NEW swabb. TSA wants to universalize the swabb...so S-M units would use "a" universal swabb. I read this one way: TSA wants IMSC's Swabb to be used by IMSC's competitors. I don't think that will fly to well with IMSC mgt.

IMSC'S SWAB AND VORTEX ARE HUGE DIFFERENTIATORS. GIVING THOSE TO COMPETITORS WOULD SUICIDE.

My guess, S-M will figure out a way to duplicate the IMSC swabb without violating an IMSC patent. ( don't even know for sure that IMSC has exactly patented their NEW swabb)

Swabbing is lame.
