#88928 RE: igotthemojo #88901

DD will help you out here.

yup...but if you factor in kblb's need for cheap labor halfway across the world...shipping, labor, third world politics, seasonal issues, weather, mulberry leaves/food etc etc, which one is expensive and which one is "cheaper"...

From Spibers patent...

It is a fiber obtained from cocoons made of silkworm is the larva silkworm of (Bombyx mori), description silk (1) silk fibroin 41 The two silk thread 40 as shown in the schematic cross-sectional view of the silkworm cocoon filament of Figure 7A But it is the one in the form of covered glue quality of outward (sericin) 42. As the structure of the silkworm cocoon filaments shown in FIG 7B, fibroin 41 is composed of fibrils 43 a number, outer fibroin 41 is covered with sericin 42 4 layers, bave 44 one is configured and more . Removed by dissolving sericin 42 outside by refining In practice, it is used in apparel applications as a silk filament. Specific gravity of the silk is 1.33. In addition, 1300 ~ 1500m degree is generally average 3.3deci tex, the fiber length fineness. Outer layer of the cocoon thick, what the average fineness, it has become thin as it goes inward, due to that it has become non-uniform fineness as a whole.

As a starting material the silk fabric waste and used or cocoons of silkworm or natural silk fibroin to be used in (2) silk fibroin present invention, purified silk fibroin was removed and fat and other sericin which covers the silk fibroin , those with silk fibroin freeze-dried powder.

Protein fibers of the present invention a polypeptide derived from (3) spider silk protein can include a polypeptide derived from spider silk protein in addition to the silk fibroin. The polypeptides derived from spider silk protein may include, but are not particularly limited as long as similar or derived from a native spider silk protein.

So they are using silkworm silk turning it to powder adding spider protein and spinning it.

They are under the excat restrictions KBLB is under. They need cheap labor halfway across the world...shipping, labor, third world politics, seasonal issues, weather, mulberry leaves/food etc etc

AND THEN they need to do all the processing and spinning.

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong

Obvious which would be cheaper

I will also add that this patent is an improvement patent on a patent that was an improvement to RLs goat silk.
The numbers involved are passed around as what "should be" and not what IS.
They will need 3rd party verification in order to complete this patent. It is not against the law to put a wrong number in a patent application. You just wont get the patent without proving your numbers.
If they try to patent this fiber as a silk with a 450 strength score and they can only produce a 200 they wont get the patent without rewording it
