I agree with you Dak. Why would Intuitive sell any of it unless they figured it was going to get copied anyway and figured they would sell the "car" without the "engine" so at least they received some sort of compensation. But that is all speculation...
...I think you hit the nail on the head when you pointed out they are still working with the old generation technology.
