#79985 RE: sdcasper #79984

So many things depend on upward pps mobility, SD. Let's face it, Angel bought a turd. I've been in the game (both losing/winning) long enough to realize (even been in a coupe trades) that businesses with the best of intentions collapsed but kept their shell in shape to sell. RightSmile was that collapse, but it was toxic, as several have referred to here. There's no mistaking that. BUT...Angel has worked like H*double*matchsticks to clean it up and truly get Bud Genius, Inc. up/running as a viable business in California. Prop D dropped the wind out of Angel's sails. Angel went after dozens (maybe even hundreds) of little guys and paired up with them (*if you don't believe me) peruse http://budgenius.com and do some research on closed dispensaries in LA in 2012 - 2013, Angel had the lions' share, but over 1,000 were closed. Recently, I showed a news clip that linked to 200+ closings, but reported last year in an update, 1,000+ dispensaries remained off LA's books (Franchise Tax Board closure), yet still paid the county in tax revenue. That's because Prop D "legally-limited" the # of dispensaries in LA to a couple hundred vs. the 1,200+ that were operating, yet they weren't afraid to look the other way to collect the tax $$$. The state, county, city and fed raids in 2012-13, changed the landscape of MMJ, less for the BIG dispensaries who could afford litigation, (*Harborside case ring any bells?), in LA and surrounding counties, that wiped out Bud-G. Big testing centers, with strong financials backing, then had the upper hand. Bud-G lacked significant capital to hang with the testing arena. Bottom line, in Q4/2013, we found financing to prevail and move forward with the business plan, which includes SIGNIFICANTLY MORE than testing. Like Weedmaps and Leafly, testing is a bye-product. The real money is in tech and advertising, and Angel does both of those well, with deep experience, so would strongly agree, dot.com is where it's at in Bud-G! Too many positive things (cleaning up the old crap, administrative filings, registrations, going after new clients, CA. lifting restrictions, National political climate) leaning in BudGenius' favor, so GREAT THINGS ahead, IMO!
